Whimsy Wednesday ~ Hopeful

Hey there lovely crafty pals. I'm sneaking a couple of hours of crafting in today after being away from the house for days. Lots of TLC needed for a poorly family member, so my crafting is falling way behind. But happily, I've had a creation waiting in my vault for just such a time to share.

This exquisite image is called 'Hopeful' and is by Whimsy Stamps artist Sylvia Zet. I LOVE her images. Their wistful enchanting faces and dreamy innocence. There is a beauty captured in her art, few have the talent to portray. I'm a little bit in love with every single image of hers I've ever coloured. I used a couple of retired Whimsy Stamps dies on this creation too. My favourite die, the Country Heart Die and the Corner Die Set. I have so many 'timeless' dies from Whimsy Stamps, they just don't seem to date! I still use these two in particular, lots.

The lovely girl I made this card for, was our darling Au Pair in England and she has fire-red hair, so I coloured up this image to look a little like her. She was so delighted with the result! Sadly, I forgot to take photos of the card before I gave it to her, so the images were a snapshot she took for me. Not great lighting, but I think still conveys the beauty of this gorgeous Sylvia Zet image. This card was made for her Grandma, so the message is written in Slovak. It means "With much love for the most beautiful Grandmother".

There are so many beautiful images in the Whimsy Stamps store, not only from the lovely Sylvia Zet, but from a wide range of talented artists all with some really special to bring to the table. If you've not taken a visit recently, head over and check out the latest release. You can click on the link above for the main releases or click here for the digital releases. There's something for everyone and I'll be back again soon with a creation from another fabulous Whimsy Stamps artist. So pop back again soon to check that out. Have a brilliant week and I'll be back again over Easter with our April Whimsy Stamps Digital Release. Hugs to you all xoxo

Sweet Stampin' ~ Easter

Hey lovelies, I just don't have time to write up this post. So for the first time ever, I'm going 'live' without blurb! I think the gorgeous image speaks for itself. I hope you like my sweet Elisabeth Bell image with her empty easter basket. Please head over to the Sweet Stampin' challenge for all the detes and I'll try to finish this post tonight. Hugs to you all, Wends xoxo

I'm back with a quick update of details. Wow, it's been SUCH a huge week. Lots of TLC needed by a poorly family member. So lovely to don my nursing cap again though! My work is not done, so I'll be brief as I'm back to nursing cares this morning. But sneaking in a quick update while bub is getting ready for school. I kept this card design very CAS, a pretty pearlescent green card base served as the base colour layer, picking up little accents in the design through the green and white bakers twine and the little decorative La La Land Corner Die. I also used a fun die which cut the 'kisses' into the paper. This is a Crafter's Companion die if memory serves me correctly. I'll link it when I have more time. (It is the Nordic Cross die from Sara's Signature Scandinavian Collection).

That fabulous 'love' sentiment die, is from 'Your Next Stamp', I'll link again when I've time. (Love Die). I added glossy accents over the diecut to add shine and dimension and though it doesn't show in the pics, it's really pretty in reality. I felt like this sweet girlie was looking at something, wistfully, so I added a sweet wee butterfly as that focal point. A couple of little diecut clouds and I was done.

I hope you'll head over to our challenge at Sweet Stampin' and share your Easter creations with us. My teamies have made some stunning inspiration pieces, so do stop by their blogs to take a closer peek! I'm running out the door now to do the school run, then back to caring for my poorly sis. Hugs to you all, Wends xoxo

Southern Girls Challenge ~ Die Cuts

Hello again! I'm back with another DT creation, this time for the lovely Southern Girls Challenge. We have some wonderful sponsors this challenge and we are super lucky to have Krafter's Cart, a wonderful New Zealand craft store sponsoring us along with our international sponsor All Dressed Up Stamps. We are spoilt to have two sponsors most challenges, so come and join us for some crafty fun! I've used Altenew stamps set Painted Flowers for my creation. They sell out really fast, so you have to be in quick.

I've taken photos in different lights, as it is really hard to show the sparkle well. I added dots of sparkle around the flowers and in the centre of each flower with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen in silver. So difficult to capture the sparkle, but it's really pretty in reality. I added a few dots around the diecut sentiment too. The sparkle of the cardstock shows the best in the little snippets of the photo below.

I've also used a gorgeous word die from Pink & Main, to create the 'hugs' sentiment on my card. Our theme this fortnight, is 'Diecuts', so I thought this was a pretty element to add to my otherwise very CAS design. It has two parts to the die, the base, which I've cut from vellum and the main die which I used a silver glitter cardstock to add a little interest and bling. I added a strip of the same cardstock down the side of the image panel to tie the elements together.

I used a lovely blue plaid digital paper from Pixel Scrapper designer Marisa Lerin and layered up the main image panel with heavy cardstock (packaging from a stamps parcel) to lift the image panel up slightly for some added dimension. This image panel was actually a 'practice piece' for me, I only used light paper stock, intending to throw it and use heavier paper for my main stamping, but it turned out so well, I decided to use it! Love when things like that happen. The ink I've used on the stamped images was layered up following the Painted Flowers directions from Altenew. I used Crisp Dye Ink from Altenew in green shades of Bamboo, Parrot, Olive and Moss from the Tropical Forest mini cubes set for the leaves. I used blue shades in Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Dusk and Desert Night for the flowers from the Cool Summer Night Altenew mini cubes set.

I hope you'll come and join in the fun with Team Lou this fortnight for our 'Diecuts' challenge. I'd love to see what you're inspired to do. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, in the meantime, have a beautiful day and happy crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo

Whimsy Wednesday ~ I Do

Hey there lovely blogging pals. I am with you today for my Whimsy Wednesday post. Sharing a fabulous CAS creation using some wonderful Whimsy Stamps goodies. This is actually the wedding card I created for my darling cousins wedding that I attended this weekend just gone. The celebration was held up North at our Grandpa's beach front farm land. This land is very special to all our extended family, it was left by Grandpa to all the families to care for, for the next generations to enjoy. So it's a very special spot when we can all gather there together. I travelled with my beautiful Mummy and we've had a really lovely weekend.

I wanted the card to be elegant and simple and when I was looking through my stash, this Whimsy Stamps Cherry Blossom Panel Die jumped out at me as a possible option. I happened to have some really pretty pearl finish gatefold card bases in my stash, so the idea grew from that.

I diecut the two panels in the two sides of the gatefold card, backed them with some pretty watercolour like card I had in my stash, layered the little ditsy flower sequins over all the flower elements of the die, then added a vellum strip with the white embossed Husband and Wife stamp from the Whimsy Stamps Wedding Day clear stamp set. This was recently on offer in our specials section, so its all sold out sadly! Whimsy has the best specials!

The last thing I needed to do was work out a way to keep the two halves of the card together and I was reminded of the lacing that was on the back of my wedding dress when I got married and tried to work out how I could achieve this look on the card. I decided a little criss cross of gold thread from above and below the central join should work and I think it worked a treat! I'm chuffed to bits with this. (Even better, on the day of the wedding, I realised my lovely cousins dress was also laced up the back like mine! So this was a perfect choice!)

Well that's my Whimsy Stamps inspiration for you today. An elegant wedding card with dies and simple embossed stamping. I'll be back next week with another Whimsy Wednesday, but in the meantime, head on over and check out the new release gorgeousness that's currently in store. There are two releases to check out, the Rubber and Clear Stamps, Dies and Stencils and the Digital Collection. The paper I've used behind the panels is an older retired Whimsy Stamps Digital paper, but you can find some gorgeous new designs here. Thanks for popping in to see me today. Have an awesome week and happy crafting xoxo

Fab 'n' Funky ~ Christmas

Hey there lovelies. Time for a new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky and it's time again for a Christmas challenge. We run a Christmas challenge every month in an effort to help you get ahead with your Christmas crafting. Here's a card I made with a 'floating' effect, using a scrap plastic packaging layer and suspending the image in the centre to make it look as if it was floating. It was so fun to try!

I cut an aperture in my card base with a Go Kreate XXL die, Frilly #7. The card base was part of a set that came with a lovely embossed finish. It's actually a baroque design, but I think works incredibly well for 'snowy' cards. I kept the offcut of course to use on another creation. I stuck the clear acetate down which I kept from some packaging (I keep every large piece of packaging acetate that I might use later like this) trimmed it to fit and then mounted the image so that it appeared to 'float' in the centre of the design. I've not seen this done before, I was just playing and thought it was a fun idea. I did something similar a while back with a partial cut away design. So I just took it one step further.

The image I used is an adorable one called Little Christmas Penguin by Pachela Studios from Buddly Crafts, previously known as Cuddly Buddly. I have loved the sweet images from this artist for many years now and have quite a number in my stash, but get so caught up with DT creations, I rarely pull out images from my stash to play with. So it was SO nice to finally colour up this wee guy with my Copics. He's so sweet. I added an ombré sky behind him to finish the design. I love this technique that I learnt from Mindy Baxter. It's so easy to do and I think finishes a snowy card like this really beautifully.

A sweet but simple design, that I think is quite striking with the 'floating' effect. I had great fun making it and can't wait to see what you're inspired to do. Are you getting ahead with your Christmas creations already? I never have enough, no matter how early I start! So I'm always keen to add one more to the pile.

Do come and check out what the rest of my talented teamies have been up to. Our lovely hostess Helen is running the challenge this week and we're all looking forward to visiting the entrants blogs. I'll be back again really soon as I have another DT creation due a little later tonight, so do stop back in for that. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

Whimsy Wednesday ~ The Birth of a Father

Hey there lovely Whimsy Stamps fans. I've been let loose on the main Whimsy Stamps Inspirations blog for the first time today and I have a sweet post to share with you there and here. I am blessed to be one of the Whimsy Stamps Digital Design Divas and let me tell you, there is no shortage of gorgeousness in the Whimsy Stamps Digital Vault. We are spoilt for choice by the talents of the Whimsy Design Team, so there is ALWAYS the right image for the occasion. I have two family members who have had babies recently, my lovely sister and my baby brother. I tell you, it's no big 'thang' to find an image to celebrate these amazing women becoming mummies right? But what about the papas? Look no further, our awesome Whimsy Stamps artist Crissy Armstrong has you covered! To celebrate the birth of a father, let me introduce you to 'Little Angel Father'.

This image just melts me. I have watched first my baby brother take this role recently and then my brother in law and I just LOVE the hearts of these modern men, who embrace their part in this joyous journey, sharing the care and unashamedly doting on their 'girls'. So this creation is in celebration of both these wonderful men in my life and their new roles as 'daddy'.

How perfectly does this image capture the rush of love that comes with becoming a new parent?! That 'will' to protect and nurture, It is captured so perfectly in Crissy's wonderful lines. However you colour this beautiful image, (mine was coloured with copics which you can now buy here at Whimsy Stamps!) the message is simple, it is a celebration of fatherhood, of new life, of dreams yet to be fulfilled and stories still to play out. THE perfect new papa image. I hope you enjoyed my take on this classic image. It's one from the Vault, but as I've come to realise with all my Whimsy goodies, the designs are classic, they don't date and are always a good investment.

Thanks for popping in today. The Whimsy Stamps goodies I've used in my creation are in the thumbnails below, click through to the store to be taken straight to the products. Have an awesome day ya'll and thanks for stopping in on my first Digital Design Divas post for the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations blog. Hugs xoxo

Sweet Stampin' ~ Inspired By A Song

Hey there lovelies. It's time again for a new challenge over on the Sweet Stampin' Challenge blog. We are having a fun theme this week, which is to see what music inspires your stamping?! So let us know what you've been listening to and how it inspired your creativity. I've chosen the song 'Photograph' by Ed Sheeran. I'll be seeing him in concert very soon and so I've had him playing on repeat in my playlist for while now. Yep, I like his music, lots.

I have this awesome set of stamps through a company called 'Close To My Heart' that I picked up at a local craft fair. I knew the minute I found this stamp set that it was destined to become a card for my sis Jani, who is a professional photographer. So I created this as a birthday card for her. I wanted that 'random shapes and colours' approach with a central slightly darker more focused image. (See what I did there? Focused, hehe, okay, that was corny!)

How cute is this little camera charm too?! I have had that in my stash a while wanting to make a card for my uber talented sis with it. She loves hessian and neutral colours, so I thought this was a fun and funky card design for her.

This card is very CAS in design, but did take quite a lot of work with all the different shades of stamping. But it was oh so fun to do! I used Memento ink in different shades of brown for this card. I used Desert Sand, Peanut Brittle and Rich Cocoa to create this card.

I hope you like what I got up to and was inspired to do whilst listening to Ed Sheeran's 'Photograph'. Share your crafty makes with us that have been inspired by song, I'd love to see what you're inspired to do. Check out what my awesomely talented teamies have been up to as well, they have some really cool takes on the theme! I'll be back with another crafty adventure very soon, but in the meantime, I'm counting down the days to the birth of another sweet babe in our extended family. So if I'm not around commenting much, forgive me, but I'm a little preoccupied right now! Hugs to you all and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

Whimsy Wednesday ~ Lil' Miss Peggy

Hey there lovelies. I'm here today with a Whimsy Wednesday post and I must say, I've had such fun with this one as I just LOVE Sylvia Zet's images. This sweet image is called Peggy. I've coloured up this wee cutie with my Promarkers on this occasion, as I'm still building my Copic Stash. Did you know Whimsy Stamps now stocks Copics?! If you live in the US you can get your Copics at Whimsy Stamps now.

I used a scrummy digital paper created by Crissy Armstrong on this card. I just love the Distressed Polka Dots paper and think it was such a nice fit for this card. I've sponged the edge of the image panel with Tea Dye Distress Ink to match the lovely shimmer cardstock I used to create the card base.

I went for crisp white embellishments, a pretty organza bow, and diecuts from the fabulous card builder set called Hearts of Love. I used the little waste heart from the 'love' word die, sprinkled a bit of glitter and added it over the main heart from that set for a little added interest. The card shape was created with a Go Kreate die ~ Frilly #7.

There are so many wonderful new digital products at Whimsy Stamps this month, if you've yet to see what's new, head on over to the store via the banner link below. Be sure to check the main release too for all the rubber stamps, clear stamps, dies and stencils.

I'll be back again next week with another Whimsy Stamps DT creation, which will be for the latest challenge. We took a break over February, but we're ready to kick things off again at the challenge, so be sure to get crafting with your Whimsy Stamps images and come and join us to be in for a fabulous prize! I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, but in the meantime, have an awesome week and happy crafting. Hugs xoxo
