No Stamps Allowed!

We have a new challenge starting today at Dream Valley Challenges. It's an interesting one too, the challenge theme is 'no stamps allowed'. I can't wait to see how you interpret that one. I've interpreted it to mean, no hand coloured rubber or digi stamps and have chosen to go for a pre-coloured decoupage sheet, which I've cut and layered to make my card.

I have a thing for Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies. I've loved them ever since I was introduced to them by the mum of one of my lil' patients in England. Cicely's imagery is enchanting and wistful. So when I came across her range in decoupage form in one of my favourite UK craft magazines a few years ago, I just knew I had to have them. They are already inked and ready to be layered up. This little cutie, the Rose Fairy, is one of my favourite images of Cicely's along with the Candytuft Fairy. If you've not discovered these beautiful images before, there's a world of enchantment awaiting you! I made this card for one of my Aunts who grows Heritage Roses in Northland, New Zealand and like me, has a real soft spot for the Flower Fairies of Cicely Mary Barker.

I kept the embellishments to a minimum as I really wanted the beautiful decoupage image to be the feature. I added all the decoupage layers to the base image using my Pinflair gel glue. I don't know what I'd do without this glue, it's brilliant! I then added the image to a card base, that I had embossed with spots and swirls using my Texture Boutique embossing machine. I finished the card with a very simple strip of pink card and a pretty burgundy pink organza ribbon, which I've tied using Jak Heath's double bow tutorial. I have it permanently loaded on my computer, as I use it so often! Thanks Jak, for this wonderful tutorial.
