Yeehaww!!

I've discovered since coming back to New Zealand, that we are an island, yep, knew that, but I mean, we are an island! At the bottom of the world, very far away from the rest of the world. That means, everything that has to come here, has to travel hundreds of miles, which means, mucho moula for everything! I never really thought about that when I lived here previously, things just cost what they cost, but having returned from 13 years living in the UK, where there is a huge amount of competition in the market place which drives prices down, I notice the difference! I'm not talking a few pennies more, I'm talking double, triple sometimes four times the price I would have paid for things in the UK. Soooooo imagine my huge joy, when just as I was about to take my weary bones off to bed last night, I just peeped at my Bloglovin' feed, to find I had won Hazel Conboy's lovely Hobby House candy!! Woop woop, cannot tell you how joyful that makes me right now! I'm super excited for the arrival of all this lovely stash and I'm clearing my craft desk to make room!!! Here's a pic of the lovely stash, so you can share in my joy.   :) :)

Please do check out Hazel's fabulous blog too, she's such an inspiring crafter. I've been following her work for years through UK craft magazines and this past year through her blog. She's injured right now, so no new cards for the time being, but check out her past makes, they're amazing!! I do regularly!!

I'll be AWOL for the next few days, as our first British visitors (one of my best British buddies and her family) are arriving tomorrow (which I'm squealy excited about!) and then my hubby's folks are up for the weekend. So I've a full diary for the next few days, there'll be no blogging time :(  But I'll be back next week, with the card I made my hubby for his birthday last weekend and a couple of other ones I've been working on. I know, I'm pants really, a card here, some family photos there, call myself a blogger?!!

Thanks for popping in, love it when you do xxx

So many lovely celebrations for my lil' crew lately. I had my first Kiwi mothers day, which I celebrated with my lovely mummy, then we had my little boy Zac's 3rd birthday, followed by his birthday party, which was attended by our close friends and lots of extended family, including my mother-in-law who traveled up from Palmerston North especially. It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks, so I've not spent much time at my craft desk. But I thought I'd show you the very quick mothers day cards I whipped up to celebrate the two mama's in my life and the sweet cards my own kiddos made for me. I've already posted the birthday card I made for my lil' dude, but thought you might like to see some pics from his happy celebrations. So prepare for a photo heavy post!

Here's my mother-in-law and I a few years ago when I was pregnant with Zac,
sharing Mother's Day in England - 2010. Cards made by my Georgie - 5 years old.

Thanks for looking today. Sorry the post is so photo heavy, but just wanted to share some of the joys of our last couple of weeks. As you can see, I've been plenty creative in the kitchen, just not so much so at my desk. Will have more cards to post soon though. So pop in again soon. Hugs, Wends xxx

Gorjuss Girl

Here's a quick post, as I need to get to bed after a hectic weekend. But I threw together this lil' card very quickly on Saturday, for my daughter Georgie to take to her first birthday invite since we've been in New Zealand. I didn't have a card ready, as I've been planning my lil' dude Zac's birthday on Sunday, so hurredly grabbed an image I'd previously coloured and a strip of paper to add some interest, a DCWV sentiment sticker and there you have it. One 'clean and simple' birthday card, ready to go.

DSC_4577

The image is a lovely stamp from the Gorjuss range of stamps at Funky Kits, that I've had for some time called Poppy Fields. I just love these characters and have several more I need to ink up yet. This wee doll standing in the poppies is one of my favourites though. I've coloured her using my fab Promarker pens and added a strip of paper from stash and a lovely birthday greeting from a handy DCWV 'Quote Sticker Stack', which is perfect for those last minute quick makes. I was literally racing out the door with Georgie, so there was no time to find the 'right flower' or any gems to finish the card, so it's as CAS as they get!! But I quite like it's simplicity, I must say. I managed to lay my hands on just the right piece of paper to back the image, and hastily if a bit sloppily edged the image in desert sand memento ink, just to set it apart from the white background. A quick application of the sentiment sticker and it was 'job done'.

Thanks for popping in on me lil' blog today. I love our lil' chats ;) Ya'll come back again real soon now.

Hugs, Wends x

My Lil' Gamer

A very quick post tonight, as it's way past my bedtime and I have a million and one things to do before the lil' dudes birthday party this weekend. But I just wanted to post his birthday card quickly before hitting the hay.

DSC_4456

This utterly perfect image for my lil' gaming dude is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is perfect in every way for my lil' guy. He's such a super smarty, he's always wanting to play on Papa's computer, or Mummy's Ipad, or on the PS3, but his very favourite is his Leapfrog tablet, which just happens to be a brilliant green, which is why I inked it up this way in the picture. This is exactly what the lil' dude looks like when he's engrossed in a game. Too cute and made the perfect card for my wee boy. Here's a closeup of Mo's lovely image.

DSC_4458

I needed a quick make as I was engrossed in other birthday prep, so I used an old card blank with a window frame and just added a cute PS3 console die from Quickutz and I trimmed a letter M which I had in stash, to represent the number 3, which is what my small boy turned yesterday. Butch the doggy in the pic got a bit cropped out due to the shape of the frame, but I think it still works. There's a tail and a bit of fur that he's leaning on to suggest a pal is there. Thanks for looking folks. That's all I've got tonight. I'll add more pics tomorrow.

Ahoy Me Hearties

Ahoy there, thanks for popping in on me lil' blog. I've had some fun with this make, so let me get to it...

I made this card for a dear friend of mine, for her little boys 4th birthday. He's the cutest little blondie and so I tried to colour up this cute wee pirate to match. The wee cutie is a Nellie Snellen stamp, from a series of 'kids' images called 'Young Rebels' that I just love. The map is pre-coloured and comes from Tiddly Inks. It's from a pack called 'Map my Life - Pirate Mega Pack'. I just love the edgy finish on it. I didn't need to do anything special with it, as it already has all the torn edged look and distressed finish, so it was literally, print and cut and voila! I used a simple sentiment on craft card, which is from the LOTV 'Boy Oh Boy' A5 boys stamp pack, which includes some utterly gorgeous boy images and also some sentiment stamps to accompany them. The backing paper is from a the DCWV 'Rockstar Mat Stack'. There are some pretty cool grungy papers in there perfect for pirate makes!

I coloured the image with my Promarkers and used the metallic letraset markers to add metallic details here and there, such as on the pirate sword and buckle. I had a couple of great compass stamps in my stash, which I can't recall where I bought, but they were perfect to finish this card off using walnut stain distress ink. I also ran the distress ink pad along the twine to age it a bit and finished the card off with a lovely anchor charm which I bought from Mei Flower. A quick fun make, which I was really pleased with.

I finished the inside of the card with the same DCWV paper and used the fab treasure chest image from the Tiddly Inks Pirate Mega Pack to finish the card. Well that's all me hearties, anchors away for today ;) I'm off to colour a fab Mo Manning image for my little dudes 3rd Birthday tomorrow. Oh my, 3 years old! Where has the time gone?!!! See ya'll again soon xxx

A Wee Cutie

Here in New Zealand we certainly are having May showers, but not to bring Spring flowers! Autumn has set in with a vengeance after our long hot beautiful Summer. But this image had me dreaming of warm Spring days and my colours were inspired by this. I had such fun colouring up this sweet stamp from Sylvia Zet of Wee Stamps. It's such a sweet and enchanting image as are all her beautiful images. I have coloured the image with a mix of my Promarkers and Flexmarkers and added a hint of Georgie's Fairy Dust to her lil' wings as I still haven't found my glitter yet! The unpacking of the boxes is going steadily, but there's a few bits of crafty kit still to reveal itself. I'm just so excited to uncover what I have, I'm spending too much time playing at my craft desk and not enough unpacking the next lot of boxes!

I have been enjoying playing along with the 2 Sisters Challenge blog and took inspiration for this card from their current bingo challenge. I think I've nailed every element on the bingo board except the easel card! I'll put details of this challenge at the end of my post.

DSC_4281

I've edged the large white flower in New Sprout Memento Dew Drop ink and the image and green paper mat the same. The two pink mats I edged with Angel Pink Memento Dew Drop ink. I had some Sizzix die cut swirls in a complimentary coloured paper knocking around in my stash, so used those to add a little interest to the blooms. All the pretty blooms are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment came with the paper set that the green woven fabric paper came from. I'm not sure where this is from, I think it was with one of my scrapbooking magazines as a paper freebie. I'll have to hunt out those details. But I thought the words were perfect for this sweet image. The lovely felt lace and green ribbon have been in my stash so long I don't recall where they're from. I've used my new Quickutz photo corner die again. I'm just loving this lil' die. It's so teeny, yet can really make a big difference to the finish on a card! It's getting so much use right now, is definitely my favourite die at the minute. There's a new Challenge blog that's just kicked off headed up by one of my crafty blog pals, which is looking for 'Favourite Dies', so I'm entering this card in that 'As You Like It' challenge.  Here's a closer look at the die and Sylvia's sweet image.

DSC_4286

Now here's a closeup of the pretty butterfly and gems. These were part of the gorgeous gift my baby sister sent over from America for Christmas before I left the UK. They were a perfect fit for this card.

DSC_4284

I also thought it'd be fun to enter this card into the Crafty Catz current challenge - Inspired By A Song. It's the only Jonas Brothers song I've heard, but how perfect is this for my card! Love Bug ~ Jonas Brothers.

I hope you're all enjoying the season's change, whatever that brings you. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I love it when you pop in. Make sure you leave me a comment so I can come pay you a visit in return.

Sweet Sugar Babe

Hi guys, wow, seems ages since I posted. It isn't really, but have just had my head down trying to unpack more boxes. Feel like I'm drowning in them! But there is something rather fun about rediscovering your own treasures. Everything seems to have traveled well too, no disasters yet! Can't find all my craft stash yet, still hunting down my E-Bosser and my glitter. It's been tricky trying to create without my glitter, didn't realise how much I use it! But has meant I've had to be a little creative. I found a pot of my Georgie's 'Fairy Dust' which is essentially body glitter and really fine, so the sweet young thing let me use some on my latest creations until mummy finds hers.

Today's card I have wanted to make ever since I first saw this utterly divine stamp. I think this might just be my all time favourite. There's just something so sweet, innocent and utterly enchanting about her. She is of course a Sugar babe - her name is Rosie and you can find her here as a relatively new release in digital format from the lovely Sugar Nellie range at Funky Kits, the fab Scottish stamp company I utterly love! I made sure I stocked up on some rubber stamps before leaving the UK, but I'm so happy they are doing so many lovely digi-stamps now. Do check them out, they're fab.

So here she is in all her sweetness. Not a great photo, the light was getting low and I wanted to snap her quickly before the sun went down all together! Must try and reload a better one, but wanted to put her up for now. The glitter doesn't show up so well on her wings and halo in this pic, but it is there and way more sparkly in actuality.

The gorgeous papers I've used are from my favourite paper design company Maja Designs which I bought also before leaving the UK from the lovely Sandy at Live and Love Crafts. The lavender pink paper in the background is from the backside of an utterly beautiful paper called 1933 from the Vintage Summer Basics range. The frontside is sooo pretty it's almost a crime to use the other side! But it worked so perfectly for what I envisioned for this card. I used a pretty mulberry shade of purple card to bring out the deeper tones in the colouring I'd done on Rosie and I was really pleased with the depth it added to the card, paired then with the second paper from the lovely Maja Design 'Fika' papers is the backside of the Hemma Hos Mig paper which for those of us slightly challenged in our Swedish lingo, means 'at my place'. These papers are all based on coffee with friends and a little yummy cake too! So right up my street, but I have to confess anything to do with these papers has me mourning the distance between me and my Swedish pal, who I miss like crazy since we left the UK.

I inked the edges of the image and background paper with Memento Desert Sand ink and with Memento Rich Cocoa on the darker Fika paper. I've got a bit of a die-cut-arama going on with this card. I've used a Spellbinders Lacey Circles mat behind the image, which I just loved for this stamp as I think the circle die suits her so well, the way she's sitting so nonchalantly. The lovely heart bud flourishes are a Magnolia Doohickey die. The butterfly is from a lovely triptych of butterflies from Cherry Lynn designs called Small Exotic Butterflies. The decorative edge die is another Magnolia die called Tilda Lace Die. Finally, the sweet corner die, is one I've been trying to get for the longest time and it's really hard to get hold of, but finally found one available on ebay and snapped it up. It's a Quickutz die called photo corner and I've already cut about 50 since I got it! It's quite small, so makes great use of those otherwise wasted bits of scrap. I really do hate to throw the scraps away!!

The lovely mulberry paper gardenia flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts. I just love this flower, it looks rather pink here, but it's actually a soft lavender pink colour. The ribbon also hasn't photographed so well, it's more of a pewter colour, it looks almost copper here! LOL. I really will have to redo these pics. But I really wanted to get a new post up as it's been a few days and I've actually managed to make 3 cards all together these past few days. A record creative spree for me, as it's usually one here and there when the kiddos and mama exhaustion allows! So I'll post those over the next couple of days too. I've coloured Rosie with my trusty Promarkers of course, which I was sooooooo excited to find in my unpacking! The metallic ones seem to have got a bit leaky with the travel, but they've otherwise all fared very well. So that was a woop woop moment, when I discovered which box held those wee treasures. I've coloured Rosie with Flexmarkers mainly using the very light 'barely there' tones, as I wanted a really soft palette for her. Her shoes I used metallic pink on and gold on her halo, which I then glittered, as I did for her wings and a touch on the rose too. I wanted to keep a very delicate touch with this image, not going too bold in colour and keeping it very dreamy and ethereal. I'm well chuffed with the result, now I just have to keep practicing hair!

Well that's a way longer blog post than I'd planned, but if you want to know about the stash, all the info's there. Thanks for stopping by. I love it when you drop in! Ska vi ta en fika.. again real soon! (You'll have to go check those Maja Design papers for the translation). Big hugs, Wends xxx
