Charming Tea Companions

I was completely charmed when I came across this digi-stamp on the Stitchy Bear Stamps website. I wanted to use it straight away and had the perfect person in mind to make this sweet card for. I'm so happy with how it turned out, especially with the delicate little touches of glitter which I think really set this card off. The three hearts on the sentiment were offcuts from the Woodware border punch I used along the top of the image mat which I glittered with fine pink glitter. The glitter was actually a give away with one of my daughter's magazines! It has a lovely irridescence and was just the right shade to work with the pretty pink Haberdashery backing paper from Joanna Sheen and the lovely seam binding ribbon from Wild Orchid Crafts. I was given the pretty decorative corner by the lovely folks at Dreamees that I've used in the top right hand corner. I glittered it so that it sat more easily in with the theme and I'm happy with the sweet sparkle and it's understated finish. The next photo gives you a better view of this and also a closer look at the pretty Tibetan silver heart charm, with it's swirl detail. I bought this from the lovely folks of 'Mei Flower' at the Alexandra Palace Big Stamp & Scrapbooking Show last year. The 'Butterfly' embellishment is a 'Tonic Studios' punch which I finished off with three small tan coloured pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts. I used the white ones from this set to embellish the bottom left hand corner of the card.

My First Post

Got my headphones on :)

My hubby has set this site up for me to have some fun with my homemade cards. This is my first post and just to test things out. I'm all set up and ready to rock! I've been making cards for a while now, so there'll be some older posts too.

Crazy Cravings

P1060670

I just love this digi-stamp from Krista Smith of 'Saturated Canary', depicting those wild and crazy cravings expectant mummas have. I started with the idea of using Orange, as it's a great colour for pregnant women. It's the colour associated with the sacral chakra, sexuality and fertility. So I thought it was a fun place to start. I made this card for a lovely pal of mine who is now expecting her second child. I laughed out loud when I saw the pickle on top! Just like the crazy cravings I had when I was pregnant!! Being a Kiwi, the ice cream of course had to be 'Hokey Pokey'. So this is why I have dotted two of the ice cream scoops to look like the honey flavoured candy pieces. My all time favourite, try it if you ever get the chance! Hard to find outside New Zealand!!

The papers I've used for this are from the lovely 'Pretty Please' Spring Papers from 'My Mind's Eye'. The lovely cotton lace was in my stash, but you can pick up similar gorgeous lace from 'Wild Orchid Craft'. The border punch I used for the detail along the top of the card is a 'Martha Stewart' punch - Floral Lace. The paper flowers, round sentiment and ribbons are ones I've had in my stash for a while and I can't recall where they're from annoyingly. I do recall the sentiment came with one of my crafty mags, so I'll try to hunt down which one and let you know. Finally, the sentiments were created using 'Whimsy Stamps' Mini Ticket Die and the coordinating Mini Ticket Sentiment stamp set.

I'm slowly uploading all the pics of my cards and trying to add some commentary. So I hope you're finding something of interest and thank you for looking! x
